Review of Boy A (2008) by Miikka H — 04 Oct 2008
Despite the dark topic of the film, we don't see any harsh violent scenes which was quite refreshing. The movie concentrates more on the drama, and the events are often also funny and enjoyable, so it's not all wrist-slitting and sobbing.
Even with this kind of original approach, there are some twists that have been used too many times before, and they are dragging the film down towards the average. Yet the acting, especially that of Andrew Garfield's, is so profound and skillful that it's almost frightening.
