Review of Boy A (2008) by Rick U — 31 Oct 2008
If you like Ruth Rendell/Barbara Vine novels, you'll like this heartbreaking film. There is this drumbeat of impending doom throughout the film, with flashbacks slowly showing the events of the past that haunt the protagonist.
My one complaint is that the backstory doesn't really tie the past and present Jack together, he seems a little too well adjusted for what he did in the past. Was he truly evil, or just too weak not to go along with what happened? These are questions the movie never really addresses.
But if you can get past that, what is in the film is well-done and worth a look.
