This film has a few flaws; hammers you over the head with it's all-too-obvious symbolism, slightly manipulative, occasionally weak dialogue, and some contrived moments and plot devices (especially towards the end).
despite all this, its subject matter remains compelling and shines through; is out past a part of us? does it it define who we are?
