Andrew Garfield is mesmerizing as a rehabilitated criminal just released from prison for a murder he helped commit as a lonely child. The movie asks the question: how far does one have to go to get a second chance? Garfield's Jack is a victim of his own fragile personality as much as he is a victim of the system, and the film is an enthralling exploration of the judgement of society unable to see the gray.
