Review of Boy A (2008) by Jose M — 12 Feb 2010
Powerful film making that is as unrelentingly depressing as it compelling. You don't get this level of depth and emotional frankness from very many American features. Quite frankly, there would have been few auteurs who'd have been willing to direct a film like this one.
Andrew Garfield gives one of the most moving performances I've seen, and he emotes every bit of adversity his character has been through in his face. A film that is ethically challenging, and questions the morality of the masses, who seek to persecute former-criminals, even after they have repented.
This is a film that is not be missed. Absolutely jaw-dropping piece of cinema.
