Review of Boy A (2008) by Steph O — 04 Nov 2010
Absolutely brilliant!! Its been a long time since I saw a movie that really touched the right strings but this touched them all and how. Its a simple story of a kid who went to jail as a kid and has to adapt to the the new world and the consequences of his actions when he is released. Its a touching story that never lets up. You feel for the character and by the end of it, actually start hoping for him. I honestly didn't want the movie to end coz I wanted to see more, to see how it all unfolded, but it leaves us at just the right moment and it leaves us guessing.
I always wondered why Columbia signed up Andrew Garfield as Spiderman - Boy A is why!! The man is downright brilliant. A wonderful performance - restrained when he needed to be but full of emotions almost ready to burst out. Social Network didn't do justice to his talents but with the amount of talent he possesses, I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot of him in the future.
For anyone who has a love for cinema, this movie is a masterpiece.
