Review of Boy (2012) by Ken S — 17 Apr 2016
New Zealand's Taika Waititi is a fine director. His first feature "Eagle vs Shark" was mildly amusing - but his second, "Boy" is quite good. It's a coming of age story for a poor kid in New Zealand who's mother is dead, his grandmother is out of town.
..and then the father he worships comes home...and he has to slowly come to the realization that his dad isn't really all that great. The kid playing the lead is great, and Waititi himself is fantastic as the deadbeat convict dad.
A fine little movie.
