Jimminy Jesus, did I ever enjoy this movie. Martin Scorsese's second feature film (after "Who's That Knocking At My Door?") stars Barbara Hershey and both Carradines (David and John) in one of the finest exploitation flicks ever made. Based on a true story, this movie is about a group of petty criminals who hop freight trains and commit minor robberies throughout the South during the Great Depression... or at least that's what it's about on the surface. In truth, the movie deftly handles issues ranging from feminism to racism with a marvelously light touch and some memorable camera work. Heavy on action but never shying away from dramatic scenes and character moments, Boxcar Bertha made me ashamed that I'd put off watching it for so long.

And holy moley, is Barbara Hershey easy on the eyes. I completely fell in love with her.
