Review of Bowling for Columbine (2002) by Nathan N — 19 May 2009
Its hard not to let some of how a lot of the world now see Michael Moore as this kind of psuedo left wing money grabbing attention seeking control freak fascist retroactively effect the way you see this film.
.. and yea on watching it again recently there are some parts that strike a real false note such as the final confrontation with Heston which is supposed to be a spontenous impassioned plea for the then head of the NRA to look at a picture of a young girl that was shot.
.. its only when you watch it again that you notice that this has been shot with two cameras meaning that Moore actually said his speech at least twice and after Heston had since gone... But but but...
I like Moore. I'm sure he can be a bit of an arsehole but who isn't... and he is an arsehole thats on our side... and this is a great feature lenght documentry even if the centrel message gets lost a little a bit and your left thinking what his actuall conclussions were.
.. but you know maybe thats the thing, if American gun crime really could be boiled down to just one simple answear they probably would have stoped killing each oher by now.
