Review of Bowling for Columbine (2002) by Brett A — 03 Jun 2011
This is Michael Moore at his least slanted. This powerful, depressing documentary shook me. Oh, and I should say now that I'm a liberal that favors gun control and the banning of assault weapons. Having said that, I know that guns aren't the problem, it's the Americans that use them.
I did a paper in college trying to link gun ownership to crime and found no correlation. All the academic journals I could find didn't have any answers. Like Michael Moore, they only offer possibilities.
Out of all the boogeymen Moore throws out there, fear seems to be the most credible. Moore blames the media, which is probably true to some extent, but that can't be it. I wish we knew so that we could solve this uniquely American problem.
