Review of Bowling for Columbine (2002) by Rod E — 31 Jan 2013
A good documentary that states the really obvious about American violence and gun control. Moore is kind of a two way street. While he is a decent documentarian, he comes off as trying to be a celebrity too much and has too much shtick.
Probably the most annoying and god awful thing to do with this movie is Marilyn Manson. Everyone walks away from this movie thinking Manson was one of the more stable talking heads but what he said was total pretentious garbage.
Do you really think that if those two Columbine nutjobs went to Marilyn Manson for anything that "he would listen to them"?? That's the biggest lie that I ever heard..Manson would be too busy doing drugs and fucking dummys to even pretend to give a crap about two people who needed to talk to someone.
That scene alone almost wants me to give this one star as that guy is such a one trick pony phoney. With that being said, it's a good movie but like any documentary that tries to moralize or state things that are pretty common sense you'll wind up walking away going "no shit".
