Review of Bowfinger (1999) by Lucas T — 22 Mar 2008
A brilliant script by Steve Martin, who plays the title character with equal parts charm, panache and aloof likeability. Eddie Murphy has never been better, turning in another multi-character role as the actor who is being conned, and as the low-IQ simpleton who is along for the hilarious con ride.
The humor is comparatively understated and not slap-stick, but is does stick with you long after the movie is over. In addition, a great quotable movie.
