Review of Bowfinger (1999) by Ryan H — 01 Mar 2009
I like this film for a number of reasons. It is simply funny in the set-ups that take place as Bowfinger attempts to make his film with Murphy's character in it, despite the latter's unwillingness to star.
Bowfinger is such a slimy person in the way he tries to have sex with his leading lady on the premise that it's for the benefit of the film. When he gets Murphy's slow alter-ego to star, he's cruel in the extreme in the way he makes him run across a busy highway.
This is the funniest scene and it is a testament to the film that such an immoral character can still be funny.
