Review of Bound (1996) by Brianna L — 28 Aug 2008
This was the film that apparently got warner bros to say yes to their matrix film idea. i;m glad they let them do that movie, i'm glad they made this movie. this is a fim that not many people are aware of, or if they remember it, they remember the intense lesbian scenes and nothing more.
the controversy that had in hollywood for a quick minute, it's understood, but it's an awesome film with an outstanding performance by Jennifer tilly. she is the sexiest thing alive in this film, her way of speaking which cracks every other note which shows a frailty, her body, it all lures you into being seduced by her.
gina gershon's performance though is a little too man-ish for me, not that there are not many women who dress in baggy pants and act in a masculant fashion, it's the fact she's gina gershon, an amazing beautiful, petite female that ruined it for me, that I couldn't overcome, but that didnt ruin the film for me because j tilly is front and center in this film.
she carries it through and makes it watchable. not to mention the great performance by joe pantoliano as a paranoid mobster who does a lot of things wrong in a short time span. the truth is, this is a very Hitchcockian film in that it carefully builds suspense in ever corner of the film, every scene builds wonderfully into the next.
it's composed with precision and class and it's an awesome movie.
