Review of Bottle Shock (2008) by Benjamin F — 22 Feb 2009
I had much hope for this movie having read a book about the tasting (Judgement of Paris, great read). The movie was "based on a true story." The only thing true about it is that there was a tasting in Paris in 1976.
The movie took a lot of liberties with the stories of steven spurrier and jim barret. The script was overly indulgent, exaggerating european snobbishness and american can do spirit. spurrier is suing the movie producers, by the way.
the only redeeming part of the film was the shots of the vineyards. wait for the real movie called Judgement of Paris to come out.
