Review of Bottle Shock (2008) by Anita H — 24 Mar 2009
Bottle Shock is based on the true story of Steven Spurrier, a British merchant and French wine snob who, in the 70's, showed the rest of the world how to find Napa Valley, California. The real Steven Spurrier, the one who doesn't look like Alan Rickman, has claimed that this movie is an utter fabrication.
No worries. I know very little about wine culture, so I have no idea what parts of the story are true or false. I just know that I enjoyed the film a lot more than I expected. It's one of those "little engine that could" flicks that actually works.
