Review of Bottle Shock (2008) by Rachelle A — 29 Mar 2009
I thought this was a pretty good film. Sure, the story is simple but Alan Rickman and Bill Pullman give great performances. This story involves the beginning of wine culturing in the United States and how it stands up to French wines, which had been around for hundreds of years already.
Rickman's character, who is an educator of wines in France, decides to take a trip to California to sample the variety of wines being created in the US. From which he makes several selections to be put up against French wine in a wine tasting competition.
Bill Pullman plays one of the wine makers from California. Chris Pine plays his long-haired hippy of a son who is also in the wine making business. Over-all I enjoyed this movie.
