Review of Bottle Rocket (1996) by Jens R — 25 May 2008
Wonderful debut from Wes Anderson.
The film is about three friends living in a boring Texas suburb, deciding venturing into the life of petty crime, to make their lives a bit more exciting.
However, their feeble attempts of crime is not the focal point of the film, merely a tool for Wes Anderson to depict suburban boredom, true first love and friendship.
The film is very calmly paced & features some very serene Zen like imagery. It's an affectionate depiction of three suburban losers looking for some kicks. And small town or suburban people, like my good self, will find plenty of situations they can intimately relate to!!!! The soundtrack to the film is fantastic as well..... And as always with WA syncrhonised to the events in an extraordinarily cinematic & emotionally poignant way!
