Review of Bottle Rocket (1996) by Ethan R — 01 Feb 2014
Wes Anderson takes the crime genre and gives it a lighthearted, carefree, self indulgent feel, which holds the attention of the viewer. You can tell a lot of heart was put into this movie. However, its plot and characters feel a bit flat, and not much is accomplished over the film's short length.
I can see where it's coming from, and Anderson's talent is ubiquitously palpable, but the end result is just okay. I will say though that after relatively enjoying Bottle Rocket and absolutely adoring Fantastic Mr.
Fox, I definitely look forward to seeing more of Wes Anderson's work.
