Review of Boston Strangler (2023) by Bertobellamy — 22 Mar 2023
'Boston Strangler' feels like the bland version of 'Zodiac.' The acting is fine —Keira Knightley and Carrie Coon are fine at playing two journalists fighting sexism and doing what the police should've done by trying to uncover a serial killer— but the execution is pretty underwhelming.
The film tries so hard at being 'Zodiac' —even the color grading is similar— that all its thrills feel familiar. Also, Coon's character is a little underdeveloped; she comes and goes throughout the story with no specific purpose.
'She Said' also suffered a lot from the same issues, but at least that one had one or two great scenes.
