Review of Born on the Fourth of July (1989) by Harrison A — 02 Jan 2009
Tom Cruise in epic form. His best performance? Yes, yes indeed.
Shame the film isn't that epic. Starts off awful (and far too American for my liking), then goes all awesome for us, before heading back to... "meh, whatever...". That makes it sound worse than it is, which isn't the case at all. The opening scenes are maybe a little... crappy (compaired to the rest of it) but they only last 10 minutes, so no problems there. It's a great film that only really needed a better final 20 mintues.
