Oliver Stone presents another gruesome anti-war movie which is carried well by Tom Cruise. Guided through his life, the viewer is exposed to the misguided public in reference to Vietnam in such a way that has never been done before.
It is not as brutal and conflicting as Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket, nor is it as good, but it carries a somewhat more personal emotional punch to the average American, stirring the questionable predicament of being a patriot or a traitor.
