Review of Born into Brothels: Calcutta's Red Light Kids (2004) by Codie E — 15 Oct 2007
A beautiful and heartbreaking documentary. While this could tackle the wider problems with prostitution in Calcutta's Red Light district the film succeeds on its focus on a small group of children and the use of photography in giving these children a voice.
While the photography, both still and moving, in the film is incredible the real stars are the children who, despite their surroundings are intelligent and articulate. Unforgetable and inspirational.
