Review of Born into Brothels: Calcutta's Red Light Kids (2004) by The Critic ( — 09 Aug 2012
A touching tale about a part of the world that isn't generally acknowledged or depicted on screen, 'Born into Brothels' doesn't quite pack the punch it should, but is still an extremely well-made pic about a rescue mission where camera are the weapons.
Zana Briski is a very likeable central figure and her relationship with the eight students comes across as genuine. An Oscar-winning film (Best Documentary) that needed to be made.
