Review of Borderland (2007) by Stephen S — 20 Jan 2009
It"s been called "Hostel in Mexico" but don't let that fool you because Borderland is - despite a couple of very gruesome scenes - a strangely atmosperic, creepy and restrained thriller.
This true tale of a couple of friends falling prey to a mexican cult was infact the only movie out of the 2008 After Dark Festival to be worth watching. Zev Berman's 70's style filmmaking really fits this kind of story.
It really doesn't do this movie any justice to compare it with the afwul Hostel.
