Review of Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (2020) by Softlanding — 23 Oct 2020
This is my honest review of the new Borat movie. now by no means what so ever does this film top the original, or any other of sacha's classics such as Bruno or ail g. This film relies on the fact of shock value.
and I mean not in a good way! There are parts of the film I enjoyed, but the majority really felt similar to his previous show, Who is America. As it comes obvious that in this film Borat has a daughter, this is a solution to the problem that he is more likely to be recognised by the public.
and although the actress(sorry don't know the her name) tries her best to carry the torch it really feels more uncomfortable rather than funny in most encounters. I don't really see this film as a follow up to the original at all.
a lot of the moments in the film feel heavily scripted. and there's quite a lot of politics involved in the movie as well. and for many that's not your cuppa tea. around the half way mark is where the movie really dips due to covid 19 issues, so it becomes quite boring.
it uses your typical cliche to wrap things up. and makes fun sensitive subjects that are in the current media to cause an outburst. I really have no problem with sacha's sense of humour it's the reason we love the classics.
but it really feels poorly excuted this time round. I mean if you've got nothing to do. watch it! make your own mind up. best way I can describe it as, is a quick cash grab.
