Review of Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (2006) by Jamahl R — 06 May 2012
If you can stomach the horrendous, you may make it to the part(s) when the film is actually interesting. I was never raised in a household with a sense of humor that leans towards to material akin to South Park. So watching this film was practically a chore. The nudity, sex jokes, gross stupidty....all too much.
All around what's actually a decent plot of a foreign man "documenting" his adventure in the United States from New York, to Georgia, to Texas, all the way to California. Although his intentions were to spread his beliefs to the U.S., the U.S. would be what will influence Borat. Whether it is hanging around homos, black gangstas, white sophisticates, and bull riders....Borat is indeed a hilarious experience.
My BIGGEST gripe however would be the disturbing scenes that gave Borat the obvious "R" rating. Again, I am not used to this material, and am very upset I have to watch a good plot like Borat, directed by individuals who prefer the humor that it is in the movie. Which is why I give it a lowly rating. Would I recommend it? Depends on who....
