Review of Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (2006) by Jimmy R — 19 Jul 2012
It's not funny until you get it. This is not a spoiler; you need to know that 90% of the whole thing is not staged or fake, however, the movie people agrees with the 'actors' that he is going to do this or that with them and film it (mainly telling them they need to teach Borat about american stuff and what not) but them when they roll the camera and Borat comes out he goes crazy and does stuff you cannot even think of and totally makes a fool out of the people they planned stuff with, which is funny! I didn't realize that till the mid of the movie when I stopped and had to google and find out if any is real or not because that affects whether you like the movie or not.
Anyway it was kinda funny, very racy and might tick you off if you're a religious person, but it's not intended to offend people as to make them laugh and certainly make money. Many scenes were unnecessary and some jokes were pretty lame but I enjoyed the idea overall.
Oh and read about the movie as much as you can after you watch it, you'll find out some pretty nasty shit that'll make you laugh your ass off.
