Review of Boomerang (1992) by Jason H — 15 Jun 2011
This is a classic film for and about African Americans. Almost all African Americans get it, like it, and have a copy of it. Many urban terms find thier origins in this film ('coordinate','we there', the 'womans foot thing', the 'paranoid black man that ties everything to race' bit).
It is one of his best works, one where he depicts black people as intelligent and sophisticated rather than the one dimensional dancing Negro that America seems to prefer. If you dont get the humor or cant relate, dont hate. Just what is so much more special about 'Sleepless in Seattle' or 'How to lose a guy in 10 days' anyways?
