Review of Book Club (2018) by Christopher O — 13 Aug 2018

Even though the movie has a very basic plot, I honestly enjoyed the hell out of this movie. The audience experience was great, everyone got the jokes and laughed along. I have noticed this movie has gotten mediocre reviews, but as far as I am concerned, this motion picture brings out a very positive message.

That message is 'Its never too late', there are many people out there who have given up on finding someone to be happy with again and also this movie shows that age does not matter. Everyone is entitled to happiness.

In my opinion, the direction and camerawork were pretty basic and standard, nothing more to say about it. The casting is full of gifted actors who elevate the simple formula of this movie. Candice Bergen, Diane Keaton, Mary Steenburgen and Jane Fonda make a perfect group of friends and the bond between them seemed very real.

Overall, I am giving this movie 4/5 stars. The acting, jokes, the message this movie puts out there and the pure fun this movie has with the material it gets are the positives. Now the negatives are, the plot is very basic, the camerawork and cinematography is just not interesting, very basic and mediocre as well.

At the end of the day, I had fun watching this movie and I am recommending Book Club to the readers.
