Review of Boogie Nights (1997) by Eric A — 31 Jul 2010
In the nutshell, not just anderson's best work (one of those) but certainly one of the greatest movie of all time as well.
Fine Acting + Meticulously-Brilliant Script + Masterfully-Crafted Directing = An unforgettable epic!
If any of you have stated that P.T.Anderson is a gifted director, I certainly would 100% agree! He certainly got a skill and talent to write a script and direct a picture. In "Boogie Nights" case, this movie is definitely a classic or it will be a classic 10 years from now. It has everything that a masterpiece should have : powerfull-strong storyline, deeply thoughtful and profound content, brilliant performance and magnificent directing skill and script. On the side, it also has very 'eye-catching' 70's background that was dramatized (and entirely actualized) by a superb camera artwork, which was literally meant to drag us down back to the era of Porn's Golden Age along with the freedom and the consequences. And it seriously did!
Well, I believe this is truly a finest american picture ever made!
Yet the music composition is marvelous, probably could only be 'surpassed' by tarantino's crime-noir 'PULP FICTION'.
Again, long applause for the newborn kubrick of our era, a natural born whiz-kid in film making industry : Paul Thomas Anderson! This guy is just remarkably awesome..
