Review of Boogie Nights (1997) by Romeo H — 30 Mar 2011
Not very good. I had heard a lot of good things about this film, but just didn't enjoy it. It has a fantastic cast, but since there's so many damn characters, it's hard to appreciate them; as a result, a lot of the actors here aren't utilized in roles that illustrate their full potential.
I'm normally a huge Wahlberg fan, but I didn't even really like him here, just because the character was kind of cliche'd and annoying at times. John C. Reilly was pretty good for like the 10 minutes of screen time he had, Philip Seymour Hoffman was annoying, and William H.
Macy was pretty funny for the few minutes he was on screen. Aside from that, there's really nothing noteworthy about Boogie Nights except that it's too long and has a totally unnecessary and stupid ending.
