My favourite film of the 90's...

The 90's produced amazing films, including, Fight Club, Goodfellas, and American Beauty, but out of all those masterpieces Boogie Nights is my favourite. I have seen this film countless times, and I can honestly say it never gets old. This film started up so many peoples careers. Including Mark Wahlberg, John C Reilly, and the the director Paul Thomas Anderson. The film also stars, Burt Reynolds, Don Cheadle, Julianne Moore, and Phillip Seymore Hoffman. This is by far my favourite ensemble cast ever. They each act so well off each other, and are the perfect combination.

Boogie Nights is the story of Dirk Diggler (Mark Wahlberg). After discovering Dirk at a night club, Jack (Reynolds) decides to offer him a part in his upcoming adult films. Of course Dirk accepts, and begins his journey to stardom. It basically shows his ups and downs throughout the late 70's and throughout the 80's. His best friend, Reed Rothchild (John C Reilly), is with him almost every step of the way. The film also includes Amber (Moore), a drug addict mother, who is thee best at what she does. And Scottie (Hoffman), he helps with the films, and is obsessed with Dirk.

Mark Wahlberg plays my favourite character ever. Dirk Diggler is definitely the most unique character I have ever seen. One moment happy as ever, then wanting to kick someones ass if he doesn't get his fix. But seriously, props to Mark Wahlberg, especially since this was his first major role. Sure he was in The Basketball Diaries, and did a damn good job, but Boogie Nights was his first lead, and he nailed it...literally.

John C Reilly was awesome! Mixing comedy with ridiculousness. His character Reed Rothchild is another very unique one. Almost identical to Dirk, except for the fact he can't do karate. But John C Reilly was great!

Burt Reynold does an exceptional job as Jack. By far the most serious in this. And he it plays out so well.

Phillip Seymore Hoffman does a very strange performance as Scottie. Very odd, but as always he does a great job with whatever he has.

Don Cheadle is another big name in this film, and he does great. His character struggles throughout the film with his "look", and that is strangely his biggest problem...well until the end.

Other names include Julianne Moore, and William H Macy. I really like Macy in this, and I thought Julianne Moore did good. But I didn't like her character, something about her, I think it was because she was a mother. And with everything she is doing.

Paul Thomas Anderson really created a masterpiece with Boogie Nights. A start of an amazing director.

Boogie Nights is funny, twisted, depressing, and AMAZING.

It is definitely in my top 10 of all time.

My Rating For Boogie Nights Is.

100%.
