Review of Boogie Nights (1997) by Mesh B — 20 Dec 2011
It's funny how people say this movie doesn't have any plot? what plot supposed to be? serious and dramatically challenge? For me Boogie Night is a cult classic, just like another wonderful Paul Thomas Anderson movie Magnolia. Saying that, I know this is no Magnolia, but Boogie Night has its special place in my favorite films, the movie depict the 70's perfectly and for one who doesn't know me, I adore the glorious 70's era with its taboo prescriptions, golden age and of course, boogie dance!
Burt Reynold is the actor here, he leads the movie - which is quite sad how his fall out with the director turns out to be. Marky Mark, or should I say Wahlberg did good, but again I can't take him seriously then' nor ever! Mrs. Moore on the other hand shines in the film and I'm glad she got her nomination as the trouble yet loving Amber Waves. The movie possessed many amazing supporting actors from, Heather Graham breakout role as the rollergirl, Phillip Seymour Hoffman as the gay movie crew, William Macy as the jealous husband to Don Cheadle as the black 'pornographer' (I didn't forget John C Reilly on purpose, but his role is forgettable to be honest).
8.5/10.
