Review of Boogie Nights (1997) by Eytan D — 10 Jul 2013
For a movie about the 70's/80's porn industry, Paul Thomas Anderson's "Boogie Nights" was a huge surprise to me. There is plenty of sex and drugs, but though it is funny and sexy, the movie has a sincere, brutally honest interior.
In Anderson's script, which is very well-written, every person in the porn business has a reason for being a part of it, providing some seriously sad and heartbreaking moments. Direction is solid and the entire cast is out of this world, especially Mark Wahlberg in a star-making performance.
