Review of Boogie Nights (1997) by Trevor R — 10 Jan 2011
Intense, dramatic, and freaking insane; Boogie Nights is a no-holds-bar, fearless look at the porn industry in the late 1970s early 1980s. PT Anderson's second best film by my estimation. (There Will Be Blood is held in high esteem by me.
) It has a few of his touches: long takes and a fantastic ensemble cast. It blew me away (no pun intended) right out of the gates. The soundtrack is amazing. The acting is amazing. This is Mark Wahlberg's best performance in my opinion.
The film is just great.
