Review of Boogeyman 3 (2008) by Demond J — 13 Jan 2009
Boogeyman. CRAP. Boogeyman 2....Amazing and interesting. Boogeyman 3....sigh. This was a direct sequel to the second installment of this neurotic trilogy. And it SHOULD have been great. It could have been amazing except for one small teeny tiny thing...IT SUCKED. Perhaps it is a bit harsh, but considering Part 2 was a near masterpiece, this movie did try to build on it. In face, making out that even though the shrink in part 2 was indeed believing the Boogeyman DID exist, and was trying to make the patients believe it DIDN"T so that it would take away its powers was quite good. It gave the third part sometehing to go on...if we believe in the Boogeyman we give him power and existance. And if we don't...it can't hurt us. This alone was quite good...however the killings were pretty bad. They lacked any bite to them...and in fact were boring. I hated every single character...which is a big no-no.
If the characters were more intersting (the only likeable character was the daughter of the doctor from Part 2 - played by Tobin Bell)...and unfortunately she gets killed off and pretty badly.
In the end we have bad shadow work, low suspense, and boring uninspired kills. The storyline was ok and built up well from part 2, but does fall apart.
Not worth seeing in my opinion...in fact the only one of the trilogy that is worth seeing is Part 2.
