Review of Boogeyman 2 (2007) by Pat O — 31 Jul 2008
I haven't seen the first gem in the series, but I stumbled upon this direct-to-video sequel on TV and decided to sit through it since I'm a horror fanatic. Obviously the story isn't anything to write home about; a girl checks her herself into a mental hospital to get try to get over a childhood fear of the boogeyman.
Soon fellow patients start dying in ways that relate to their fears, and this is why I stuck with the movie despite its crappiness - The kills are bitchin'. The strongest aspect of horror that I like to see is gore, and this didn't disappoint in that regard.
There's some pretty sick and twisted kills here so my interest was kept, and the ending was a decent twist even though it was cliched. So, it's a sub-par piece of crap. Doesn't beat the sequel-to-a-shitty-horror-movie goodness of Wrong Turn 2.
