Review of Boogeyman 2 (2007) by Rich R — 04 Sep 2009
If you've seen Boogeyman, or rather unfortunately Boogeyman 3, then you may be surprised to hear from me that Boogeyman 2 was a true haunting slasher. Wow, what is this?! They added blood and violence, put together a story that interlocks characters trapped in a psychiatric hospital?! Thank you Boogeyman 2, that's all we asked for the first time around. This film centers itself around a rather serious theme, as it discusses the psychology of fear and self hate. There were some absolutely gruesome scenes in this movie, I was completely shocked. It is quite unfortunate that whoever the hell picked up Boogeyman 3 to produce was not of the same bloodline as the creators of this second version. Few horror films are worth watching these days, but it remains my favorite genre, and that is why I had to write a review for this movie. It is a solid production with some disturbing gore.
Summary gripes: 7th heaven characters just ruin horror films for me. They are great actors, but I know their history =/.
Summary perks: Shocking gore, surprise scenes, interesting story, great creepy setting, an absolute standout amongst the Boogeyman series.
