Review of Bonnie and Clyde (1967) by Robyn M — 01 Oct 2012
This movie's THEME is terrible. Both terribly unfaithful to the source material; and terrible in its glorification of sadistic violence, without even the redeeming depth of Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange.
In its day, this film was praised by quite a few critics though because of its style, the cinematography and editing, the music, and the charismatic performances of its leads. If you loved Pulp Fiction I suppose you'll think this is pretty cool.
Wow! Look at the blood splatter! Ain't it FUNNY! Oh, I hope the murderers get away!! Hahaha! It's all in good fun! Like a shooting arcade at the carnival that's come to town, with cardboard cutouts that pop up and we blow 'em away!
