Review of Bonnie and Clyde (1967) by Theodore Z — 28 Dec 2012
Overrated. Some originality - for example this may be the first film to portray bullet wounds as producing blood. But the story just wasn't very interesting. Bonnie was horney; why was Clyde unable to bump with her? His inability was brought up several times, as if the explanation might come later, but it never does.
The film just wastes our time, telling us about it. I didn't find the protagonists interesting and I did not particularly empathize with them. There was not much character development. Instead, the characters were rather cartoonish, comic-bookish.
Nice cars, nice clothes, nice landscapes, nice cinematography. Overall, a rather dull movie. Anti-heroes my ass; they were idiots.
