Surprisingly absorbing. Really good performances, especially from Kurt Russell, Matthew Fox, and Richard Jenkins. This is the first movie where I actually cared for a Patrick Wilson performance, though I haven't seen much of his other work.
The film has a confidently idiosyncratic tone, which took me a while to dial into, but I got there eventually. It also contains one of the most horrifyingly gruesome scenes I've ever witnessed. A pretty impressive movie for a first-time director.
