Review of Bone Tomahawk (2015) by Braiden O — 23 Jul 2018
This film, simply put, is amazing. It's characters are very well defined and performed, the writing is fabulous, the atmosphere is convincing. This film is funny, tense and, at sometimes, brutal and disturbing.
There is one scene in particular that has stuck with me for the past few days. It is probably the most brutal and disturbing scene I have ever seen, yet, towards the end, my mind never really lingered on it.
I wasn't worried about what had already happened but for what may happen later to our main characters. The ending, yet sad, was satisfying and I found myself thoroughly entertained throughout the whole 2 hrs and 13 minutes I had spent investing myself in the plot.
The slow-burn feel that was felt for most of the movie definitely paid off in the end with scenes where action happens so quickly and so unexpectedly that you'll miss it if you blink. as the credits rolled, I found my jaw wide open, shocked and delighted at what I just had seen.
It's strange how this film made me happy to be disturbed.
