This is a is like alot of suble Canadian humour set in a Classic cop buddy movie.
What's missing from this movie that's is most other "Canadian" movies:
1.boring scenes of the prairies(esp during the depression) 2.forays in to lesbianism and necrophilia etc.
Finally some one got it through their head that one can make a Canadian movies that are NOT for the "Art House" crowd ...or the other extreme to cheesy low-brow comedies( a la "Intern Academy").
