It's the sequel no one asked for, but which ends up vastly improving on the original.
A much tighter story, which even has a little something to say about government surveillance & the modern media theatre of terrorist scares. But you know, just on the surface. Just enough to get you invested in the firefights and explosions.
Two older, grizzled and far more believable lead actors; dealing with getting old, having kids that no longer require their support, making space for the younger guys at work, and coming to terms with their own mortality, all make for a much more engaging tale.
