It's a bit of a Hollywood stretch to say that she "invented" frequency hopping, when the technology was already being used by Philips in a home remote-control device. She certainly was not the first person to patent the idea.
That she recognized that it could be applied to torpedoes to defeat the Germans in WW2 certainly was imaginative and visionary. The sad story was that she was turned into a Methamphetamine addict by an unscrupulous "doctor".
