Review of Bolt (2008) by John P — 17 Jun 2012
I don't care what people say about this, this movie has nothing to do with the propaganda of PETA. So many people have told me that it was propaganda, anti-religious, and world domination, etc. I swear that I'm starting to think that some of my friends read one to many conspiracy theory stories. So with that said, let me move on and say that this movie took me by surprise. This movie is like the Truman Show for dogs and I really like that aspect of the movie which was my favorite part.
John Travolta playing as Bolt did pretty, because he was better than I thought he would be. My only real downfall for this movie I think was that when Bolt realizing he's in the real world the movie starts to slow down for me. It's not until they bring in that hamster things started to relly pick up for me. That hamster was fantastic because he was like the ultimate fanboy. He really summed up that kind of rabid fanboy who is really into what you're doing and, as annoying as he may be at times, you can't help but like him because he likes you so much. Susie Essman did a bang up job playing as the cat. What really got to me was near the end of the film where it shows how far dogs are willing to go to save their human companions and that made me tear up a little giving this movie an extra star. It's a really fun and really well done movie with some great voice acting all around. Both families and adults would be laughing all the way through this film which is why I gave it 4 out of 5 stars.
