Review of Bolt (2008) by Whit W — 30 Dec 2010
Enjoyable feature about a dog who finds out that he's not really a superhero, he just plays one on TV. Bolt the dog and Mittens the cat were likable characters, more so than the main characters of the similarly released "Madagascar 2" and "Kung Fu Panda".
The animation was excellent and the opening chase sequence's 3D effects were visually amazing. The 3D treatment throughout the rest of the picture was hardly jaw-dropping, though. This is a nice story, a buddy road picture, really.
In what seems to often be the case, the funniest parts of the movie are delivered by the secondary characters. There are a lot of laughs courtesy of "Rhino" the hamster and a couple of different sets of pigeons.
