Review of Bolero (1984) by Richard D — 08 Sep 2016
God bless you, Bo and John Derek. you two morons just couldn't help but make hilariously bad movies together, could you? While not quite the comedic gem that is "Ghosts Can't Do It", "Bolero" is still no small shakes when it comes to 'so bad they're good' movies.
Made with all the grace, wit and skill of a rhesus monkey, "Bolero" is the story of University grad Bo's trip around the world to find someone to bang her and take away the horrible burden of virginity.
If you're not laughing already (Bo Derek a virgin? Yeah right!), just wait until, oh, three seconds later in the film. Every plot revelation, every character, every line of dialogue, every bewildering cut.
..there's bound to be something here to make you laugh until you cry and then scream "WHAT?!" None of it makes sense, none of it is sexy, none of it is good film making...but ALL of it is rip-roaring, cackle-til-you-pass-out fun.
A true epic of bad, bad cinema.
