Having heard that this was a remake of the original Gol Maal starring Amol Palekar and Utpal Dutt, I was wondering how that all time classic would be handled my the master of slapstick - Rohit Shetty. I was pleasantly surprised.

While the basic premise of the story remains the same, a fictitious second twin with only a moustache differentiating the two, the entire treatment is brought into the current day scenario quite convincingly.

Credit has to go to the scriptwriter (Yunus Sajawal) and the dialogue writers (Farhad-Sajid) for really spinning the story with some really hilarious one liners and situations. Needless to say, please do not endeavour to look for the meaning of life in this movie or you will be most disappointed!!!! I would strongly encourage you to listen to whats going on, as there are a lot of gags that you might just miss out on if you're too busy hogging your popcorn/samosa (non fried ones) or diet cokes!!

Rohit Shetty's direction is good as has been expected from him, though I think he would do well to go easy on all the flying cars/buses/people in the various action sequences. It does get a bit monotonous after a while and kind of takes the shine off an otherwise enjoyable movie.

Also, if Shetty felt the need to have a lot of cleavage on display in the movie, I would wager that the public would rather it was either Asin's or Prachi Desai's rather than Ajay Devgan's!!!

Now for the performances:

Ajay Devgan - or Devgn or Dvgan or........- does well in the character portrayed by Utpal Dutt in the original, and his penchant for spouting english lines does result in some really laugh out loud moments. However, I feel he needs to start smiling a bit as well, or not he'll have a very creased forehead very soon!

Abhishek Bachchan comes to life as the hapless equivalent of Amol Palekar from the original. Comedy is his forte (I have said it on a few occasions earlier, but I guess he doesn't read my reviews!!!) and he delivers very well. Watch out for his "Dance Audition" and if you don't go crazy laughing, then there's something very wrong with you!!!!!

Krushna Abhishek (of Comedy Circus fame) lives up to the promise of his constant self promotion in the various episodes of Comedy Circus. His comic timing and dialogue delivery is second to none, I only hope that this success doesn't make him leave Comedy Circus.

Asin and Prachi Desai really have little or nothing to do, so to call their performances mediocre or inadequate would be harsh.

Asrani and Neeraj Vora (sounds like me, but I look way better, or so I am lead to believe!!!!) excel in the supporting roles.

Archana Puran Singh is back on the big screen after a long long time and is excellent as Zohra. Her comic timing is on the dot, and I really hope we see her again soon.

Overall, this is one madcap comedy caper from the king of comedy. I strongly recommend it to you, with the caveat that you have got to leave your brains behind and simply go with the flow and you'll be sure to have a good time. I am hoping that SRK also gets tempted to see this after reading the review!!!!!
